A dish can have up to 4 photos. The first is its main photo, which appears in the dish list, on the Recipe Card PDF and in Kitchen Recipes, so kitchen teams can see how the finished dish should look.
Before you start
- You need permission to update dishes in Recipe Manager. Without it, you can view a dish's photos but not change them.
- The dish must already exist. To create one, see How to create a Recipe.
- Photos must be JPEG or PNG files of up to 15 MB each. You don't need to resize or crop them first, because they're kept at the size you upload them.
Where to find it
- From Head Office: Recipe Manager > Dishes, then click the dish.
- From an outlet (if StORM is activated): StORM > Recipe Manager, then open the dish.
The photos are in the Images panel on the dish page.
Add photos
- In the Images panel, click the upload area (Click to upload, or drag and drop).
- Choose one or more photos. You can also drag photos from your computer straight onto the upload area.
- Wait for the photos to appear. Each one goes into the next free space, and once all 4 spaces are full the upload area is hidden.
Tip: iPhones save photos in HEIC format, which can't be uploaded. Before you take dish photos, go to Settings > Camera > Formats on the iPhone and choose Most Compatible. For a photo you've already taken, save it as a JPEG and upload that.
Change the main photo
The main photo is the first, larger one. To make a different photo the main one, drag it onto the main photo. The two photos swap places.
Remove a photo
- Click the ✕ in the top-right corner of the photo.
- Click OK to confirm.
The remaining photos move up to fill the gap, so if you remove the main photo, the next one becomes the main photo.
Important: You can't undo removing a photo. To get it back, upload it again.
View a photo full size
Click any photo to open it full size. Use the arrows to move between the dish's photos, and the ✕ in the top-right corner to close it.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "HEIC photos are not supported…" | The photo is in iPhone format. Save it as a JPEG and upload that, and set the iPhone to Most Compatible for future photos. |
| "That image is too large. Please upload an image under 15 MB." | Save a smaller copy of the photo, for example by exporting it at a lower resolution, and upload that. |
| "That image format is not supported. Please upload a JPEG or PNG." | Save the photo as a JPEG or PNG and upload that. |
| "A dish holds up to 4 photos, so 2 of these were not added." | You chose more photos than the dish had space for. Remove a photo you don't need, then upload the rest again. |
| There's no upload area | The dish already has 4 photos, so remove one to add another. If the photos have no ✕ either, you don't have permission to update dishes. Ask your system administrator for it. |
A message about one photo starts with that photo's file name, for example "IMG_0412.HEIC: HEIC photos are not supported…".
