Introduction
This guide explains how to copy dishes from one company into another company you can sign in to, so the other company starts with a ready-made bank of dishes. Each dish is copied with all its data, and each ingredient points at the same product in the other company. Any combo dishes a dish uses are copied too.
Assumptions
You can create dishes in Recipe Manager in more than one company. You can only copy dishes into companies you can sign in to and create dishes in. If you only have one company, you won't see the Copy dishes option.
A dish can be copied only if:
- every ingredient comes from a supplier on the supplier portal, linked in both companies
- the other company has each product with the same product code and the same pack (UoM)
- any combo dish it uses can be copied too, or is already there and identical
Most suppliers aren't on the supplier portal yet, so many dishes can't be copied for now. The results show what is stopping each one.
Where to find this
Head Office > Recipe Manager > Setup
Step-by-Step guide
Opening Copy dishes
Go to Recipe Manager > Setup and click Copy dishes on the Copy dishes to another company card.
The Copy dishes screen opens. It lists which dishes can be copied. Work down it: first where the dishes go, then which dishes to copy.
Choosing where the dishes go
Under 1. Where the dishes go, choose the Company, then the Category the dishes will be copied into. If the category has sub-categories, a Sub-category list appears; choose one, or leave it as None.
All the dishes in one copy go to the same category. If you want dishes in another category, run a second copy. Combo dishes are copied into the Combo Ingredients category.
Choosing the dishes
Under 2. Choose the dishes, search as you normally would, by dish name, reference or category, and click Search. Tick each dish you want to copy, or tick the box at the top of the list to select all the dishes in the search. Dishes selected shows how many you have ticked.
Copying
Click Copy. You are asked to confirm the number of dishes, the category and the company, then the copy runs.
The results
When the copy finishes, Copy results shows:
- Copied to the category in the company, and how many dishes were copied
- Already in the company: dishes that were already there are skipped and the existing dish is used, so it is safe to run the same copy again
- Not copied: a dish is left out if it can't be matched. It says why, for example that products aren't in the other company, that a product has a different pack there, or that its supplier isn't linked to the supplier portal
Anything under Please check was copied but needs a look, for example a dish copied without a photo, or without a reference because another dish already uses it.
If the copy stops part-way, the message says which dish it stopped at. The dishes before it were copied; run the copy again to carry on.
